AUT Certificate of Proficiency in Pacific Nutrition

Graduates of the AUT Pacific Nutrition course

Enrol in a certified course on Pacific nutrition. The AUT Certificate of Proficiency in Pacific Nutrition will teach you about the relationship between the types of food we eat, and the effect they can have on our health. You will learn about how food affects health, emphasising the importance of traditional foods as part of a nutritious, balanced diet. Every life stage is covered from age 0 - 65+.

Learn how to share the information you have learnt with your families, communities and workplaces.

This course is delivered in two formats, face-to-face and online. In 2025, the first intake will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams, structured into three parts with 12 two-hour evening sessions held weekly over 12 weeks. 

The second intake will take place face-to-face in Ellerslie, Auckland, over a nine-week period. This format will also be divided into three parts, each consisting of two in-person daytime sessions, with a study week for self-directed learning and activities.

From 1 January 2024 the cost has now increased to $150 per person.

To attend this course you will need to:

  • Complete the online registration form
  • Supply proof of eligibility to study in New Zealand
  • Complete the online AUT enrolment form
  • Attend all face-to-face (or) online classes
  • Actively take part in learning activities, discussions and group work
  • Complete online readings, activities and assessments
  • Pay $150 per person prior to the course starting (heavily subsidised by Te Whatu Ora)

How do I register?

To register for a course complete the following three steps:

1. Complete the online registration form.

             Register now for intake 1

2. Supply proof of New Zealand residency.

  • To complete your registration, you will need to supply verified proof of New Zealand residency (i.e. a signed copy of a New Zealand Passport, Foreign Passport with New Zealand Residency Visa, Certificate of Citizenship, New Zealand Birth Certificate). 
  • Note: Unfortunately, you are not able to use a New Zealand Drivers Licence as proof of identification for residency. 
  • These documents must be certified by a Justice of the Peace (Citizens Advice Bureaus or Local Libraries usually have a Justice of the Peace on staff).

3.    Submit your documents to us and courier or post your certified identification documents with proof of New Zealand residency to:

Please note: Acceptance into this course is not automatic. Acceptance is based on all the relevance the training package has in relation to the line of work you are in. As this course is delivered in partnership with Auckland University of Technology (AUT), once your registration has been accepted by the Heart Foundation you will be required to complete an AUT online enrolment which we will supply.
