
Berry and chia spread
This tasty berry and chia seed spread is easy, nutritious and something everyone will like. Have it for breakfast on toast or as a dessert.

Method
- Place berries in a small pot and cover with a lid
- Bring to a gentle simmer and cook until soft
- Mash the fruit with a potato masher to create a slightly lumpy pulp
- Remove from heat and stir through chia seeds
- Allow to cool then transfer to a sealed container
- Keep refrigerated and use within 5 days.
Tips
- This spread will keep well in the freezer. Freeze small amounts that can be defrosted easily for a quick meal.
- Any other fruits that make good jam can be used instead of berries, try some of these
- Plums, de-stoned and diced
- Apricots, de-stoned and diced
- Tamarillos, peeled and diced
- Kiwifruit, peeled and diced
