Take On The Tour!

Looking for a new cycle challenge in 2017? Why not sign up to the Tour of New Zealand and help us fight heart disease at the same time!

The tour is all about having fun with your friends, celebrating New Zealand's great cycle trails & raising money for charity.

The Tour is a competitive/social event. It simultaneously starts at the tip of the North Island with the Cape Reinga lighthouse at your back or the deep South at Bluff, home of the famous oyster boats.

The journey takes competitors through some of New Zealand's most spectacular scenery.

The Tour is really flexible ...you can choose to enter a 4 or 5 person team where the same riders can do every daily stage, or the team can swap riders each day, making the Tour accessible to riders of varying abilities.

Alternately, enter as an individual and ride the whole Tour - every day, every stage. However, as a guideline, all competitors should be able to ride approx 100km in less than five hours on undulating terrain.

The Heart Foundation is passionate about getting New Zealanders moving and we are one of the recipient charities for the event.

Entry numbers are limited to 250 riders at any time in each of the North and South Islands.

The length of stages varies from 70km to 130km, and will take most participants three to six hours riding time, depending on the terrain, weather and the caliber of the riders.

The finish of the Tour is celebrated in Wellington on 8th April 2017, with North and South Island riders meeting for a criterium on a short circuit through the Parliament grounds.

This is a safe, fun event where support crews get as involved as the riders, cheering for their teams and those of their new friends, made along the Tour.
