Baked Hasselback apples
Try this delicious dessert that makes the most of apples with only a handful of ingredients. It’s perfect for an autumn or winter evening

Method:
- Preheat oven to 180°C
- Core and cut the apples in half
- Cut through the apple halves in slices, stopping just before slicing all the way through. To make this easier place a wooden skewer through apple so the knife can’t go all the way through to the board
- Place apple halves face down in a roasting dish, sprinkle with cinnamon and cover with tin foil
- Bake for 30 minutes then remove from oven and remove tin foil
- Sprinkle with almonds and raisins, pushing some into the cuts of the apple
- Return to oven for a further 10 minutes
- Remove from the oven and serve with yoghurt or custard
Tips:
- Instead of almonds use chopped walnuts or replace half the nuts with seeds of your choice
- Pears would also work well for this recipe if you prefer
