Smoking is a leading preventable cause of death, and while rates have declined in New Zealand, disparities persist, especially among Māori and Pacific peoples. Vaping has increased since 2006, helping many quit smoking and reducing adult smoking rates. This statement aims to inform clinicians and public health professionals about smoking, vaping and heart health in New Zealand adults.
